Narcotic drug racket busted, 12 held

As many as 12 persons were arrested here allegedly operating a narcotic drug racket, with police seizing 200 kgs of narcotic drug worth Rs 10 crore, police said.
The Special Operations Team of Cyberabad police and a team of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), jointly raided some chemical units and godowns on the city outskirts on July 7 and seized over 200 kgs of Amphetamine and Ephedrine narcotic drug and raw material, worth Rs 10 crore, Cyberabad Police Commissionerate said in a statement here today.
The raids took place at some of the chemical units located at Hayatnagar mandal and Choutuppal mandal in neighbouring Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts, and 185.6 kgs of Amphetamine and 69 kgs of Ephedrine narcotic drug, besides hundreds of kilos of other raw materials used to manufacture the two drugs were seized, police said.
A 12-member-gang involved in the drug racket hailing from various parts of the country were nabbed by the SOT team led by Officer on Special Duty Ashok Kumar, it said.
Accused Fayaz Ahmed Rasool Sheikh, a native of Vasai, Maharashtra, Karikalan from Chennai, Sunil Singh Sardar of Gujarat, were among the arrested men.
The others accused assisted the key accused Sheikh in manufacturing and supplying the narcotic drugs, the statement added.
