"The BJP has projected a leader who does not have any knowledge about India's history. He speaks false things about Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Takshshila, Alexander and Chandragupta," former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh said while addressing a public meeting at Kirodimalnagar in Raigarh district.
He alleged that Narendra Modi is twisting the facts about development in Gujarat and presenting falsehood as truth and vice versa to the media for publicity.
Lauding his party's schemes, Digvijay said that the Congress works for the welfare of martyrs, the poor, farmers, labourers, backward communities and ST/SCs, whereas the BJP is a party of industrialists and traders.
Further highlighting promises made by the Chhattisgarh Congress in its manifesto for the state assembly elections, he said that if the Congress is voted to power in the state, it would provide "Rs 2,000 per quintal" as support price to farmers for their paddy, free rice to poor people, as well as decentralise power.
Digvijay Singh also addressed rallies in other places like Janjgir-Champa in the state on Tuesday before the second phase of assembly elections on November 19.
