Narrow escape for 25 persons as van hits boulder on ghat road

A group of 25 persons had a providential escape when their van hit a huge boulder and came to an abrupt halt on a ghat road near this hill resort town today, police said.
However, twenty-three persons, including eight women, were injured in the mishap that occurred at Dum Dum Parai area and had been hospitalised at Batlagundu near here.
It was a narrow escape for the occupants of the van as the vehicle did not move any further down on the ghat road after it hit the boulder as the driver lost control while negotiating a hairpin bend, police said.

Two persons sustained very mild injuries.
The mishap led to a traffic snarl for a while.
