Narrow miss for Ishan in shooting world championships

Young Ishan Goel narrowly missed out on qualification for the final of junior men's 50-m rifle prone while the likes of Samaresh Jung and Gurpreet Singh fell short in their event at the 51st Shooting World Championships here today.
Goel was placed ninth in the qualification with a score of 618.0. He had a sequence of 102.9, 103.6, 104.2, 101.9, 102.3, 103.1. As per rule, the top-8 earn entry into the final.
The team of Goel, Swapnil Kusale and Subhankar Pramanick finished 10th.
In men's 25-m standard pistol individual competition, Gurpreet was placed 13th with a score of 566, while the veteran Jung managed a 44th-place finish. Mahavir Singh Shekhawat was 32nd.
As a team, Gurpreet, Jung and Shekhawat were positioned seventh.
