Even as the Nashik city gears up for New Year festivities, the local police have asked citizens to refrain from drunken driving and have also stepped up security.
Offences will registered against those who are found to have driven the vehicle after consuming alcohol, Deputy Commissioner of Police N Ambika said today.

City hotels have been given permission to remain open till late night and night patrolling by police personnel will be increased, Ambika said.

public safety and protection of law and order in mind, the force would stay away from any such protest.
"There is no scope for mass leave, every one should understand that," he said, adding, the government will take action against those instigating the police.
