S Jagannathan today inaugurated a server room and city visitor information and record management system (CVIRMS) aimed at better coordination and information sharing among police stations in city.
The system is installed at the Control Room of police commissioner office.
"It is aimed at exchange of information to police stations and mainly about giving and taking CDR, daily crime report, passport verification, character certificate and other police applications like 'Satark', 'Police Mitra' and 'Pratisaad'," stated a release issued by the police commissionerate.
Through CVIRMS, police could do digital registration of every customer at hotels/lodges. CVIRMS is connected to all police stations, it stated.

cyber crime branch, said all police stations and departments have been connected to CVIRMS to speed up give and take of important and confidential information.
"Now, people will not require to move to every police station or other offices to get NOCs, for passport verification and other information," he stated.
The main server and 30 computers were provided by MLA Apurva Hiray from his MLA funds.
