Director Raam Reddy, whose critically acclaimed "Thithi", was today declared the best Kannada film at the National Film Awards, says winning the honour has given a commercial boost to the movie.
"After such an incredible journey internationally, winning a National Award is a dream come true. With major awards going to mega blockbusters like Bahubali and Bajirao Mastani, and with the backing of distributor Suresh Productions, we are now confident and very hopeful for the commercial potential of Thithi.
"With our release slated for the end of April or early May, and with the support and belief of stars such as Rana Daggubati, we feel positive about Thithi finding a wide audience in Karnataka and across the country," Reddy said in a statement.
In "Thithi", three generations of sons react to the death of Century Gowda, their grandfather, a 101-year-old man. The three story lines intertwine before converging at Century Gowda's "Thithi", the final funeral celebration eleven days after a death.
