National Conference MLC stages Walkout from J&K LC

A National Conference legislator today staged a Walkout from Jammu and Kashmir Legislative council for "unsatisfactory reply" to her question on police recruitments.
Minister for R&B and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri on the behalf of Home Minister said 3,836 candidates have been recruited under different cadres in the police department during past two years.
He was replying to a question by NC member Shehnaz Ganai in the Council.
Veeri informed that 3,725 youth were recruited as constables through recruitment board in the Police department during the period, of which 132 were female constables.
100 Prosecuting Officers were also appointed in the department of which 18 are females, the minister said, adding 11 sub-inspectors including a female were also recruited during the last two years.
The Minister further informed that in all 3622 candidates from various districts were recruited as constables which include 911 in Executive Police and 2711 in Armed Police.

Shehnaz Ganai posed a supplementary question to the Minister about the police recruitment criteria alleging there has been no yardstick applied to the posts granted to different districts.
Not satisfied with the minister's reply, she staged a Walkout from the House.
Replying to other part of the question, Veeri said there is a laid down policy for regularisation of SPOs as constables and followers in Police department on operational grounds, excellence in sports and ITI diploma.
He said 50 per cent horizontal reservation has also been earmarked for SPOs having continuous engagement for three years.
The Minister said that 2081 SPOs were absorbed and appointed as constables/followers during past five years in the state.
