A 3-day workshop on enforcement of intellectual property rights (IPRs) is being organised by the commerce and industry ministry from tomorrow for various agencies, including the police, which have an important role in this area.
Increasing awareness about these rights amongst officials of enforcement agencies, which also includes customs, would assist them in handling cases relating to IPRs in their day to day functioning, the ministry said in a statement.
"This workshop will help enforcement agencies across the country understand and appreciate the importance of their role in IPR enforcement," it said.
It added that the workshop will also act as a platform for the officials to share their experiences, best practices and better inter-agency coordination.
The Cell for IPR Promotion and Management (CIPAM), a professional body under the aegis of the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) is organising this event.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the function along with Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Kiren Rijijiu, Minister of State, Home Affairs.
