Nationalist Congress Party nominee elected Jawhar civic chief

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) nominee Sandeep Vaidya has been elected president of Jawahar Municipal Council, after he defeated his only rival Ganesh Rajput of the Shiv Sena, by a margin of merely a single vote, it was officially announced here today.
In the elections held on Wednesday, Sandeep Vaidya polled nine votes, while his rival Rajput polled eight votes.
In a house of 17 members, the NCP accounts for nine members, the Shiv Sena accounts for seven members, while the Congress only for a single member.
The BJP has no member in the council despite the fact that Guardian Minister Vishnu Savra is from the BJP.
Incidentally, this happens to be Vaidya's third term as councillor in the civic council and his election is being considered a great success for the NCP, according to political observers.
Talking to PTI after hsi election, Vaidya said, "This victory is the result of social work done by my grandmother and my father Ravindra Vaidya, who was a freedom fighter".
