In view of a nationwide strike called by various employees' unions tomorrow, the Haryana government has directed the heads of departments, divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to have a contingency plan prepared so that the functioning of offices and essential services to the public do not suffer.
"If anyone indulges in disruption of work, such persons would be firmly dealt with," an official spokesman said here today.
Meanwhile, the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment has sent a demi-official letter to the Haryana Chief Secretary regarding certain initiatives taken by the government to address the demands and concerns of the Central trade unions.
The major decisions taken by the Centre include fixation of minimum wage at Rs 350 per day for unskilled non-agricultural workers for 'C' category areas, raising it from the existing Rs 246 per day. This is an increase by more than 42 per cent.
Ten central trade unions (CTUs) have called a one-day nationwide strike tomorrow against the government effecting "anti-worker" changes in labour laws and its "indifference" towards their demands.
