Naval, fishing boat collide

A patrol boat of the Navy suffered minor damage after it collided with a fishing boat off the sea here, police said today.
The incident, which occurred last night, triggered tension here with fishermen alleging that the Naval personnel onboard the boat took away their papers insisting that they must carry out the repair of the vessel.
According to local Fishermen Association President N J Bose, the Naval men took away the R.C Book and ID card of the boat owner Kalimuthu saying they would be returned only if the repaired the damage.
Bose said he along with some members of the association today took up the matter with the local Naval office following which the papers were returned.
Meanwhile, Naval officials said it was an accident while checking the ID and they have handed over the papers.
