Naval personnel undergo training in communication system

As part of measures aimed at bolstering coastal security, a four-day training in the state-of-the-art National Command Control Communications and Intelligence Network (NC3I) was conducted for Navy and Coast Guard personnel at the Southern Naval Command here.
The training, which concluded today at the Joint Operations Centre (JOC) here, was imparted by public sector BEL representatives, who have been trained in the US for the NC3I project, Navy said in a release.
"A total of 24 personnel from the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard attended the training. The training was aimed at providing operators with essential knowhow for exploitation of the state-of-the-art system," it said.
Navy said the course would provide the necessary impetus towards the coastal security initiative of the country.
Naval Officer-in-charge (NOIC) of Kerala Capt Varghese Mathew was the chief guest of the closing ceremony, which was attended by staff officers of Southern Naval Command and the Coast Guard.
The entire event showcased the continued effort and emphasis towards the coastal security in the region.
The project was launched at Information Management and Analysis Centre (IMAC) at Gurgaon in November last year by the Defence Minister.
