: Kerala High Court today directed Bengaluru-based NIMHANS medical Institute to examine Naval sailor Sunil Kumar Sahu, who had raised charges of corruption against his senior officers and file a report on his mental status before November 26.
The direction in this regard was issued by a division bench, comprising Justice V K Mohanan and K Harilal when a habeas corpus petition filed by his wife Arti Sahu came up before the court.
Sahu, who was produced in the court today, was directed to be sent to NIMHANS.
He had been brought to the naval hospital here for treatment after he raised charges against his senior officers.
Earlier, Sahu, a shipwright artificer at INS Kattabomman, Vijayanarayanam, in Tirunelveli, was examined by doctors of Psychiatry department at Government Medical college hospital. But they stated that a proper evaluation was not possible within a short observation time.
Aarti Sahu in her petition alleged her husband was being illegally kept in the Naval hospital here and efforts were being made to establish that he was suffering from mental illness and wanted the treatment to be stopped immediately.
