Naveen addressed 160 poll meetings, confident of victory

Confident of forming government for the fourth-time in a row in Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today called off his 21-day high-voltage electioneering at the state capital here through a road-show.
Patnaik, who started his election campaign on March 26 from his home assembly segment of Hinjili in Ganjam district, addressed his last election meeting at Satyabadi segment in Puri district.
Though the ruling party has taken a large number of cinestars to the party fold, Patnaik was the sole political campaigner for BJD.
"The Chief Minister has addressed more than 160 public meetings besides attending road shows in major cities like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Balasore, Rourkela, Puri and Berhampur," sources in chief minister's residence, Naveen Niwas, said.
The task of Patnaik was more as almost all the candidates contesting in 147 assembly segments and 21 Lok Sabha seats demanded the party supremo to campaign for them.
Besides touring all the 147 assembly segments, Patnaik during the period has addressed more than two meetings in assembly seats like Mahakalpada, Brahmagiri, Balasore and some other places, party insiders said.

On the last day of campaigning, Patnaik addressed public meetings at Basta, Jaleswar, Bhograi, Soro and Simulia in Balasore district and Chandabali in Bhadrak district besides two rallies at Brahmagiri and Satyabadi in Puri district.
"BJD will perform very well as the blessings of the four core people of Odisha continued uninterrupted," Patnaik said at different public meetings claiming that his party would secure maximum number of seats, both in the assembly and Parliament elections.
Claiming that BJD government during its 14-year rule has implemented schemes and programmes for all sections of the people including youths, pregnant women, girls, elderly persons, construction workers, labourers, kendu leaf workers, tribals, Dalits and others.
"Our Rs 1 a kg rice for the poor has helped the needy people and helped the state's fight against hunger," Patnaik said at an election rally adding that the national parties including opposition Congress and BJP would lose their ground in the state.
