The Indian Navy has denied having served any eviction notice to a sailor, who alleged that he was asked to vacate his flat after his wife lodged a police complaint against another sailor for molesting her.
"This is factually incorrect. On the contrary, the lady and her husband have been repeatedly offered to continue to stay in the same house as they were living till now," said a statement issued by the Navy last night.
"They have also been repeatedly counselled by their officers and full support for any requirement has been extended to the sailor and his wife," it further said.
The Naval sailor's wife had a few days back accused another sailor of outraging her modesty and an FIR was lodged at Cuffe Parade Police Station on May 12. Police are investigating the case.
Later, the sailor had accused Naval authorities of harassing him after his wife lodged the complaint.
Navy spokesperson Rahul Sinha said, "His professional conduct has been found unbecoming of a Naval officer after a thorough interrogation and process is underway to take disciplinary action against him."

Sinha also said the Navy has sufficient evidence that he has been asked to remain in the flat and not to leave.
According to the statement issued by the Navy, the woman's husband joined the Navy in January 2013 and has had repeated disciplinary problems, following which he was warned on March 13, 2014 and September 26, 2014.
The sailor had in the past also allegedly impersonated a Naval officer and was caught attempting to interfere in the recruitment process of Indian Army for his brother, the statement said.
"Given his continuous unsatisfactory conduct and poor disciplinary record, the sailor was recommended for discharge from the Navy in February this year and the same is awaiting the approval of competent authorities," it added.
