Navy Fest opens in Kochi

Navy Fest 2015 - the annual fair held as a precursor to the Navy Week celebrations, was today formally inaugurated Vice Admiral Sunil Lanba, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief Southern Naval Command at Naval base.
The Vice-Admiral was accompanied by his spouse Reena Lanba who is also the President of the southern region of the Navy wives welfare association (NWWA) besides senior officers of the Sothern Naval Command.
The Navy Fest has 32 stalls including 11 professional stalls by various departments of Southern Naval Command.
These include the stalls of various training schools such as Navigation and Direction, Anti-Submarine warfare, signal school, INS Dronacharya, etc based at Kochi as well as Naval Ship Repair Yard, the Naval Aircraft Yard and the Naval Armament Depot.
Three warships ships present at Kochi are open to the public on the occasion in addition to the naval air station, INS Garuda where Navy aircraft are kept on display for the public to see at close proximity, according to a Navy release here.
A fly past demo at 11 am and 4 pm besides motor cycle stunt performance at 11.30 am and 4 pm every day are added attractions to this year's Navy Fest, it said.
The All- India Military Photo Exhibition held in association with Ernakulam Press Club since 2010 was also inaugurated by Vice Admiral Sunil lanba.
The Navy fest will continue till November 22 and would be open to visitors every day from 10 AM to 6 PM, the release said.
