During his journey, the officer will not take help from any of the ports falling on the way on his voyage, Navy officials said here.

Tomy is expected to undertake his sail in 180 days and is likely to return to Mumbai by April-May 2013.

"I have been training under famed Commander Dilip Dhonde to prepare for the mission," the Lt Commander said.

Dhonde had undertaken a solo sail around the world on August 19, 2009 starting from Mumbai, passing close to Australia, New Zealand, around the Cape Horn and Cape of Good Hope, before finally dropping anchor on May 22, 2010 in Maximum City.

Interestingly, Tomy will follow not only the same route but also the same boat, INS Mahadei, that his predecessor had used for his exercise.
