Navy Open Laser Championship begins tomorrow

Sailing teams from major sailing clubs in the country will participate in the inaugural edition of the four-day Navy Open Laser Championship beginning at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, tomorrow.
The championship, being conducted under the aegis of the Indian Naval Sailing Association (INSA), will see the participation of teams from various sailing clubs affiliated to the Yachting Association of India (YAI), a press release from INA said.
The participants of the championship, instituted by the Indian Navy, will compete in sailing at the Ettikulum Bay on 'Laser-Standard' and 'Laser-Radial' class of sail-boats in nine races spread over three days for a cumulative prize money of over Rs 50,000, the release said.
Besides promoting the sport of sailing in India, the event will also provide national level exposure to the cadets of INA also.
