A Delhi court today issued a strong warning to the Tihar Jail Superintendent for not producing arms dealer Abhishek Verma before it in the 2006 Naval War Room leak case in which he is facing trial along with others.
The superintendent of Tihar Jail number four today appeared before Special CBI Judge Sanjeev Aggarwal following the court's directions as to why action should not be taken against him for not producing Verma before it for the hearing in the case in which five accused, including three ex-naval officers and a former Wing Commander, are facing trial.
The court spared the officer with a strong warning to be careful in future.
Meanwhile, the jail authorities today produced Verma from judicial custody.
The court had earlier issued show cause notice to the jail superintendent where Verma is presently lodged and asked him to appear in person with an explanation.
It was annoyed over the absence of Verma during the previous hearings as the court had earlier issued production warrants seeking the presence of the accused. Verma was not produced in the court on April 22 and February 19.
