Nawanshahr railway station renamed after Bhagat Singh

Punjab government today said it has notified the renaming of Nawanshahr Railway Station as Shaheed Bhagat Singh Railway Station in a tribute to the martyr.
The railway station was renamed after the great martyr of nation's freedom struggle, an official release, quoting the spokesperson, said today.
Bhagat Singh's ancestral village was Khatkar Kalan, near the town of Banga in Nawanshahr district of Punjab.
Nawanshahr district was also renamed as Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently come to Punjab and had visited Hussainiwala in Ferozepur district to pay tributes to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev.
