The jailed son-in-law of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar, was today rushed to hospital from the high-security Adiala Jail after he complained of chest pain, his second hospitalisation within this month, media reports said.
Safdar, along with Sharif and his daughter Maryam are lodged in the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi after an accountability court sentenced the trio in one of the threee corruption cases against the former prime minister.
He was taken to the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology after complaining of chest pain, the Express News reported.
Last night, Safdar's condition deteriorated and was given medical attention inside the jail, Geo News reported.
Safdar, 55, will undergo a medical examination at the hosptial. Doctors would take a call on whether he needs to be hospitalised, the reports said.
Sources at Adiala Jail said Safdar has been complaining of stomach and chest pain. He is said to be vomiting frequently too.

On August 9, Safdar was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, Islamabad from the prison after his condition worsened. He had a stomach condition and his sugar level was also high at that time.
Safdar was sentenced to a year in jail by an accountability court in connection with the Avenfield flats corruption case on July 6. He was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau on July 8.
Sharif was handed down a 10-year term. Safdar's wife Maryam Nawaz was sentenced to seven years.
The accused were also disqualified to contest elections or to hold public office for a period of 10 years from the date they are released.
Yesterday, the new Pakistan government led by Prime Minister Imran Khan decided to include the names of Sharif, Safdar and Mariam in the Exit Control List, barring them from leaving the country.
