A suspected Naxal was today killed in an encounter with security forces in the jungles of Jharkhand's Gumla district.
Officials said the encounter took place at about 11 AM when a squad of security personnel, led by paramilitary CRPF, was out for operations in the Konrebera-Palkot area of the district.
"A zonal committee member of the local Naxal group named Yatin alias Sanjay has been killed in the operation conducted by a joint team of security forces. His body and a gun were recovered after the operation and have been handed over to police," they said.
The operation was led by the 218th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) which is deployed in the area for anti-Naxal operations.
The forces have launched a combing operation near the encounter site, they said.
