"There is definitely a Naxal movement in Balaghat and Singrauli districts but it is not very effective," Dube told reporters here.

To a query on occurrence of crime, he said crime rate in Madhya Pradesh was much lower in comparison to other states.

On pending departmental inquiries against policemen in the state, the DGP said a total of 1100 inquiries were being conducted against the police personnel.

Dube said the overall conviction rate in Madhya Pradesh stood at 58 percent and is 65 percent in Jabalpur district.

Expressing concern over mere 32-33 percent availability of housing facilities for cops, the DGP said a fund of at least Rs 4,400 crore is needed for providing accommodation to all ranks of police.

On cyber crime, Dube said the policemen were being provided adequate training to deal with such hi-tech crimes.

The DGP said the process of recruitment of lower rank personnel will be handed over to independent agencies to bring about transparency.
