A 32-year-old villager was killed, allegedly by Naxals who accused him of being a police informer, in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police said today.
"Kamlesh Kowasi, a native of Jangla village, was attacked with sharp-edged weapons and his body was found lying in a pool of blood near Matwada police camp on Jegur road today morning," Superintendent of Police, Bijapur, Mohit Garg told PTI.
Garg said that a pamphlet lying near Kowasi's body stated that he was killed as he was a police informer.
The official, however, denied that Kowasi was a police informer.
Kowasi was working as a watchman at the house of a member of the local panchayat, the official said.
He said that a police team had been rushed to the spot and efforts were on track down those who killed Kowasi, adding that there were no eye witnesses to the crime.
On April 25, suspected Naxals had killed a 28-year-old sarpanch of Darbha village in Bijapur after accusing him of being a police informer.
