A police jawan was today stabbed to death by Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Maoist-hit Bijapur district, police said.
Constable Budhram Mudma (29), posted at Timed police camp, was stabbed to death by a group of Naxals with sharp edged weapons under Toynar police station limits in the wee hours, Bijapur Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sukhnandan Rathore told PTI.
Budhram had fled from the Timed police camp located in Bhopalpattanam region without informing anyone last night to attend a local fair in Toynar, he said.
When he was returning from the fair, the ultras attacked him in the nearby forest and brutally murdered him, the DSP said.
Soon after being informed, security personnel were dispatched to the spot and the body of the jawan was retrieved out of the forest, he said.
Security forces have launched a search to nab the assailants, he added.
