Maoists triggered a minor blast on a road-side in Khammam district of Telangana but none was injured in the incident, police said today.
"It was a minor blast wherein explosive material planted in a device or tiffin box exploded last night on the road connecting Cherla to Pusuguppa," an official of Venkatapuram Police Station said.
"No one was injured nor any property was damaged in the minor blast," police said.
"We also unearthed an electric wire connected to a pipe, besides recovering some posters mentioning that Maoists had called for 'bandh', protesting the killing of three ultras in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra recently," the officer said, adding a case was registered in this connection.
The composite contingent of DRG and Indo-Tibetan Border
Police (ITBP) had launched the operation after receiving inputs about presence of Naxals involved in the encounter at Kudur village last week in which a police jawan was killed, the IG said.
The body of a Maoist besides one 12 bore single barrel gun, one muzzle loading gun, 1 pipe bomb,1 grenade, electric wires with switches, bags, Naxal literatures, live rounds, radio and other daily use items was recovered from the spot following the encounter, he added.
