Fresh from his exploits in the Asia Rotax Max Challenge in Malaysia, where he came second, up and coming race driver Nayan Chatterjee has come under the wings of Akbar Ebrahim and his academy Meco Motorsports.
"Over the past couple of months Nayan has moved up a couple of notches and started to perform. Starting to do Go-Karting from the age of 7-8 helps all and Nayan has used this platform to his benefit," said Ebrahim at the media conference to announce Chatterjee's newly forged link with his Chennai-based academy.
"We have taken him under our wings to help him achieve his dreams and to his potential," said Ebrahim about Chatterjee, an international kart racer who in his fifth year in competitive kart racing has won 28 national titles.
"I did not know what motor sports was about till I was 12 years old. The Malaysian (second place) finish was extremely satisfying. I could have even won it. I'm all geared up now and the next three-year plan is to focus on Formula racing in Asia, Europe, GP3, Formula3 or equivalent in Europe," said Chatterjee.
