The Karimganj police team, which also conducted searches at other locations in the city, could not find Ahmod.
"After the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court issued a non-bailable moving warrant against the MLA regarding an old assault case, our team went to Guwahati last night.
"Since this morning, the team has conducted searches at his MLA Hostel residence and many other places. However, we have not been able to find him yet," Karimganj Superintendent of Police B P Rabha told PTI.
"The original charge sheet of the case did not contain the name of Ahmod and the complainant objected to this. Then the Court issued summons to the MLA for appearing in case, but he did not come," Rabha said.

He said before this non-bailable warrant, the Court had issued another non-bailable warrant, for which Ahmod got temporary relief from the Gauhati High Court, and later was admitted in a hospital after his recent accident.
Asked if Ahmod was absconding, Rabha said "That I can't say. If necessary, the Court will declare it. We usually declare a person absconding only after searching for a long time and do not find the person."
"The Speaker has given the permission accordingly," he added.
