"The Kolkata bench of NCLT is expected to be functional in the next 10-15 days. Notification is being done and waiting for members to be appointed," MCA Director (east & NE) R C Meena said here at an interactive session with MCC Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The NCLT will start with 11 benches - two in New Delhi and one each in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
Last week, the government notified constitution of NCLT and the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) replacing the existing company law board aiming to improve the ease of doing business in India.
MCA, he said, had received a number of requests to shift its headquarters from Kolkata but did not elaborate on it.
