Nationalist Congress Party also called upon the Centre to take "immediate steps to redeem the economic depression and the suffering of the people" due to withdrawl of high currency notes, Party General Secretary T P Peethambaram Master said in communication to presidents of all state and UTs units of NCP.
It said the economy is experiencing "serious recess" and all the sectors of economic activities are "paralysed", while the government is "indifferent to the miseries" of the people.
"The party decides to organise country wide agitation against the communal and divisive policies of the government and their indifferent attitude to the sufferings of the people. The state presidents of the party units are requested to take necessary action in this connection," he said.
Contrary to Modi's promise that "ache din avenge (good days will come", he said the experience has been that life has become "miserable" throughout the country.
Terming the demonetisation as the "undeclared economic emergency", he said the scheme was implemented without proper planning or prior preparations.
"In order to cover up the all round failure of the government, Modi has announced the demonetisation of currency abruptly," he said.
