NCPCR member meets JK Guv; pitches for child rights panel

Dixit discussed several important issues relating to protection and promotion of child rights including the need for setting up a State Commission for protection of child rights in J&K, an official spokesman said after the meeting at Raj Bhavan here.

She briefed the Governor in detail about the activities of NCPCR in the state which are aimed at securing child rights.

Other issues including juvenile justice system in the state also came up for discussion, the spokesman said.

The Governor stressed the importance of increasing awareness about available safeguards for protection of child rights.

Vohra observed that children in need of special care and protection, especially those belonging to the disadvantaged sections and those affected by terrorism and other unfortunate circumstances, require very special attention.
