Following the incident, the NCPCR also directed state governments to issue instructions to school authorities that strict action will be taken against them if they fail to comply with provisions of the RTE Act related to corporal punishment.
This comes a day after a 14-year old girl from a public school in Delhi committed suicide after receiving poor grades in her 8th standard examinations.
In a move to prevent children suicides in the country, NCPCR has drafted a few guidelines for elimination of corporal punishment in schools and remove the culture of violence amongst students.
The commission has so far taken cognizance of 366 cases of corporal punishment and 11 other cases that have been of children committing suicides or attempting suicide due to pressure from school across the country.
