Under the NCS scheme, those registered with employment exchanges will get SMS alerts on jobs available in the market without them having to make rounds of exchanges, he said addressing a May Day event.
Modelled on the lines of a UK government initiative, the NCS, which functions under Directorate General of Employment and Training of Ministry of Labour and Employment, would connect millions of jobseekers to employers, both in the government and the private sector, by aggregating all information regarding jobs, jobseekers, training and employers.
"If a worker is registered with employment exchange, your cell phone number would be there. What we do is, after registration, you will get information on where jobs are available, electrician, welder, fitter, all these jobs. You are asked to attend the interviews. We are modernising employment exchanges through the National Career Service," Dattatreya said.
He also said Rs 400 crore was being spednt for modernisation of employment exchanges.
Reaffirming the Narendra Modi government's commitment to launching initiatives for the benefit of workmen, the Minister said one crore new jobs would be created over the next two years.
