National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) today slammed yoga guru Baba Ramdev for visiting the minor girl who was allegedly raped by five constables, saying it had breached the sensitivity of the matter.
"The act of Ramdev has hurt the sentiments of the family," NCSC vice Chairman Raj Kumar Verka told the media after meeting the victim's family at an undisclosed location, and pointed out that this had revealed the victim and her family's identity.
During a visit to Chandigarh yesterday, Ramdev had dashed off to the victim's residence in a village near the city and assured her of help.
"Ramdev should not have gone to the gangrape victim's residence in her village yesterday keeping in view the sensitivity of the case," Verka said
Since the accused had been arrested and the matter is sub judice now, political parties should desist from taking mileage from this case, he said, adding that he had sought a "detailed report" from the Chandigarh administration and demanded a government job for the victim once she attained the age of 18.
Police had yesterday set up an SIT to investigate the case in which the five constables have been accused of raping and molesting the Class 10 girl. The constables have been arrested based on the girl's complaint.
Meanwhile, Satya Pal Jain, former Chandigarh MP and National Chairman of the Committee on Legal and Election Commission Issues of the BJP has urged Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde to immediately to assess the "severely deteriorating" law and order situation in the city.

He also demanded that the probe into the gangrape case be handed to the CBI.
In a letter to Shinde, Jain said that the culprits could be identified because the victim is alive and the local BJP councillor came to her help and brought the matter in public domain.
Verka, who is a Congress MLA from Punjab, said he had already discussed the matter with Shinde.
