The National Commission for Women (NCW) today directed Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik to conduct a thorough probe into the attack on a 27-year-old woman here.
The woman was shot at by a man in southeast Delhi's Zakir Nagar on Tuesday, with the police suspecting that the incident was a fallout of a quarrel between the victim and the accused's wife a few days ago.
The victim, in her statement to the police, claimed that she was returning home from Taimoor Nagar around 11 pm when Tasleem Mulla fired at her.
The woman, reportedly, had a quarrel with the Mulla's wife a few days ago and he fired upon the victim to take revenge.
Taking cognisance of the case, the NCW has directed Patnaik to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and apprise the commission on the action taken at the earliest, a NCW official said.
