National Commission of Women (NCW) today launched a training programme for elected women representatives in Panchayats and Zila Parishads that aims at empowering and developing their capacities in administrative skills.
The three-day training programme was launched by NCW chief Lalitha Kumarmangalam in Rajasthan and participated by over 40 elected women representatives.
While launching the programme, the NCW chief emphasised that the training would empower them politically and they would learn administrative processes required for effective governance at the Panchayat levels.
"The training module focuses on understanding of socio-legal and constitutional frameworks to safeguard and secure rights of women; and knowledge on institutions, structures, and state-sponsored schemes and welfare programmes at the village, block and district level," a senior NCW official said.
The modules for capacity building of elected women representatives was developed by NCW in collaboration with Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
