CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat today attacked the NDA government for "amending" Land Acquisition Act and hiking FDI in insurance sector through ordinance route, alleging that it was pro-corporate and anti-people.
The CPI(M) appealed to the people to launch a decisive struggle to "overthrow" the BJP government at the Centre.
Addressing a rally here, the CPI(M) leader alleged that the BJP, after coming to power at the Centre, "bypassed" the Parliament and introduced "anti-people" Land Acquisition Ordinance and raised FDI in insurance sector.
"The Centre passed a number of ordinances just after the Parliament session. Government is doing exactly opposite to what it promised during the election campaign. In its short tenure of nine months, the direction of the Government is clear and it has taken a path against toiling masses," he alleged.
"On the one hand, it has opened natural resources to capitalists but on the other hand it has put a burden on common man by making MNREGA ineffective, bringing ordinance to acquire land without consent and righting off corporate tax worth several lakh crore," he alleged.
Karat said, "We will have to force the government to withdraw draconian land acquisition ordinance, to save MNREGA, education, health, housing facilities and public services."

CPI (M) Haryana Unit Secretary Inderjit Singh raised the issue of implementing Swaminathan Commission report in the interest of farming community.
He even criticised Haryana Education minister Ram Bilas Sharma for allegedly saffronisation of education in the state.
"Instead of taking steps to improve quality of public education system, the Haryana government is trying to communalise brains of young children," he alleged.
