"Our government is committed to providing reservation to women in legislatures. Our government will bring the Women's Reservation Bill after consultations with all," said BJP spokesperson, Shahnawaz Hussain.
Taking a dig at Congress, the BJP leader said that its government not only makes promises, but also fulfils those.
"We do not weave dreams and make false promises. We fulfil the promises," he said.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi, while addressing a Mahila Congress convention here, sought to reach out to women by promising them a larger electoral role at all levels and made a strong pitch for reservation for women in Parliament and the state Assemblies.
BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, meanwhile, said that his party's commitment towards the bill was total and criticised Congress for "cheating" the people on the issue.
"Congress, under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, has tried to cheat the people on the women's reservation issue. They have no moral right to say anything on the matter," he said, adding that, "We (BJP) are committed to women's reservation and we will bring it.
