On the basis of specific intelligence inputs, Assam police and their Kerala counterpart conducted a joint operation and arrested the Myanmar-trained insurgent, Karmeswar Basumatary alias Korme, from Kanzikode in Pallakad district about two days ago, the spokesman said.
Basumatary was yesterday brought to Assam and produced in a court of Udalguri district today, he said.
The militant is the 34th batch Myanmar-trained cadre of the outfit and was 'platoon commander' for its 'Mazbat platoon'.
Basumatary was arrested under sections of Explosive Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the police added.
