According to an Army spokesperson, a team of Guwahati City Police and the Army's Gajraj Intelligence Unit nabbed the militant from Jorabat area last night while trying to enter the state capital.
"We have recovered two 7.65 mm pistols, one magazine, three live rounds and a mobile phone from him. The individual is under police custody for further interrogation," he added.
The 24-year-old NDFB(S) cadre has been identified as Bhrigu Karkatari alias K Phamu.
"Information was received from secret sources that a few NDFB(S) cadres were planning to kidnap some influential persons and also carry out other nefarious activities in Guwahati during the run up to the forthcoming parliamentary elections," the spokesperson said.
