NDMC creates palm corner in Commonwealth Park

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has created a palm corner in Commonwealth Park in south Delhi where 102 saplings of ten varieties from six different countries have been planted.
"In all 102 such saplings of ten varieties from six different countries have been planted in the specially created palm corner. We have already planted over 500 palm trees on both the sides of Shanti Path. 100 Champa trees were also planted Sardar Patel Marg today," NDMC Chairman Naresh Kumar said.
The Palm Corner in Commonwealth Park near Sarojini Nagar was inaugurated today.
Kumar said after the fourth round of tree plantation drive, one lakh saplings have so far been planted at different locations in NDMC area.

"Besides giving impetus to cleanliness in NDMC areas, the drive has been initiated to expand their green cover," he said.
In the earlier three phases, over 84,000 saplings had been planted in the entire NDMC area which was divided into 14 zones.
The different varieties of trees and saplings that were planted in this tree plantation drive include Molshree, Ficus Bush King, Cycus Palm, Ficus Panda, Chandini, Neem, Jamun, Kusum, Ashok, Lijastonia Thoroly, Alistonia Botal Brush, Putranjiva, among others.
