The NDMC today invoked Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) against the doctors and other employees of its Hindu Rao Hospital, who are reportedly planning to go on mass casual leave tomorrow.
In a statement released later this evening, the corporation claimed it has "already released their salaries upto March."
"And, if they still go on a strike, it will be a contempt of court...The NDMC has invoked ESMA against them," it said.
"They are liable for penal action and their salary for cessation of work shall be deducted accordingly," the civic body said.
Hindu Rao Hospital is the biggest and the oldest hospital under the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC).
