"During inspections, presence of breeding ground of aedes mosquito were spotted at several pockets within the AIIMS campus which includes the residential campus. Despite being issued several notices, the administration has failed to take preventive measures to check breeding of mosquitoes," said an New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) official.
Despite being challaned on almost eight occasions and 17 notices being served by NDMC, the institute has failed to take preventive measures to check breeding of mosquitoes, so the notice has been sent to the AIIMS Director, for violating provisions of the NDMC Act and asked to clear up the breeding spots at the earliest.
"Around 100 residents of the AIIMS campus including several doctors and AIIMS staff and their family members had contracted dengue and some had to be even admitted in AIIMS," said a senior doctor at AIIMS.
Former CVO of AIIMS Sanjiv Chaturvedi was the latest to have contracted the dengue fever.

Another doctor said "there are heaps of garbage lying in the campus, in the parks and roads and there is no proper drainage."
The national capital is reeling under the attack of dengue which has affected over 2000 people and claimed 21 lives.
