The proposal, passed on June 20 at a Council meeting presided by BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi, ensures allocation of houses in the NDMC area for New Delhi MP and MLA, and Delhi Cantonment MLA.
The civic agency is preparing the minutes of the meeting and will send the proposal to the Ministry of Home Affairs in 3-4 days for its approval, NDMC officials said.
The Act makes New Delhi MP Lekhi, New Delhi MLA Kejriwal and AAP's Delhi Cantonment MLA Surinder Singh members of the Council.
Till now, the practice to allot residences is only followed in the case of nominated members.

The civic agency had earlier written thrice to the Home Ministry to extend this facility to elected members as well.
The matter was again taken up and a resolution passed after Surinder Singh requested for an accomodation after becoming a member of the council, the officials said.
On being asked if the AAP chief will apply for an accomodation if Home Ministry approves NDMC's proposal, party leaders said they can talk about the matter only after something concrete comes up.
An approval from the Home Ministry is necessary because the elected MPs or MLAs are notified as members by the ministry itself, the NDMC officials said.
Kejriwal had zeroed in on a house in Civil Lines area here but a controversy erupted soon after a legal tangle over ownership took place between the owner of the house and his brother.
