"We are launching a fortnight-long special cleanliness drive for religious places and heritage sites tomorrow. Focus of the drive will be on sanitation, removal of garbage and debris and horticultural waste," said NDMC Chairman, Naresh Kumar.
"Encroachments in and around religious places and tourism and heritage sites in the entire NDMC area will also be removed. Mechanised sweeping will be done at these spots every night while additional movable dustbins will be utilised as part of the drive," he added.
"To create awareness, informative and educational material will be distributed and street plays will also be organised on the theme of cleanliness.
"Community participation will be ensured by involving tourists, pilgrims, visitors and caretakers along with government and non-governmental organisations," Kumar added.
