The members accused Padma Jaiswal of dereliction of duties.
"I have never seen her attend any meeting of the Committee or the House and everyone is fed up with the kind of work being done under her. She should be removed from her post," said Yogendra Chandolia, chairman of the Committee.
The issue came up when councillors complained that they had not received the 25 sewing machines due to them for distribution to poor people.
Besides Community Service Department, the working of other departments also came under flak from the councillors for their functioning.
The Department of Environmental Management services (DEMS) in an official reply admitted it did not have enough resources to ensure a clean Delhi.
Replying to the query raised by Councillor Neelam Dheeman, DEMS said it needs 2,500 wheel barrow and 50 sewer jetting machines to cover all wards in NDMC.
Then attention turned to the education department with leader of opposition Mukesh Goyal demanding to know why school children in schools under NDMC had not received copies for the entire academic year 2012-13 despite repeated reminders from both ruling and opposition parties. The officials contended that the delay in tender process had led to the situation.
