As per the MoU signed yesterday, the Ladies Organisation of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries will facilitate the women artisans of the Mahila Haat in acquiring entrepreneurial skills and guide them to become economically independent, said North Delhi Mayor.
The Mahila Haat, which was built in 2012 above the underground car parking facility at Asaf Ali Road in the city zone of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), was gathering dust for some time without earning any revenue to the civic body.
Originally it comprised of 39 stalls of pipes and fancy sheets for promoting women entrepreneurs but now FLO would carry out necessary changes in the existing structure for improved design and a customer centric feel to the Mahila Haat, he said.
"The MoU will help in creating market linkages for women artisans and entrepreneurs and make the Mahila Haat emerge as an important shopping and cultural destination in Delhi," he said.
Licensing of stalls, internal management of the Haat including sanitation, security, electricity and water consumption will also be taken care by FLO, he added.
