Commercial establishments running at ground floor-level may be exempted from paying conversion charge if the premises were built before 1962, the NDMC today said.
North Delhi Mayor Ravinder Gupta held an open session with a number of traders associations of north Delhi to streamline and simplify the issue of conversion charges especially in the commercial areas prior to 1962, an official statement said.
The Mayor interacted with the traders and sought their suggestions with regard to documentation proof of commercial activities on ground floor and floors above it in commercial areas built in pre-1962 period for the purpose of paying conversion charges, it said.
Gupta after listening to the demands announced that the Town Planning and House Tax Departments will explore the possibility of fixing the boundaries.
However, the commercial units running in upper floors pre-1962 would have to pay the conversion charges and parking charges, the statement said.
The NDMC had recently offered a special opportunity to defaulters to pay their outstanding registration, conversion or parking charges for putting residential or industrial properties to commercial use, by September 30.
"The ongoing special opportunity scheme for paying conversion charges has been extended upto October 15," Gupta was quoted as saying in the statement.
