NDPS accused escapes from court premises

An accused arrested on Sunday after execution of a pending warrant against him, escaped from the district court premises here today pushing the escort party while he was being produced before the judge.
Gangadhar Naik (48) of Mahanga was arrested on the strength of a court warrant for a pending NDPS case of 2011.
He was escorted here to be produced before the Additional District Judge (ADJ) court by two policemen of Mahanga police station.
"The accused managed to escape pushing the accompanying policemen the moment his handcuffs were taken off for production before the judge," said the Mahanga P S inspector B K Bisi.

He said the accused ran away amid the rush at that moment inside the Court premises.
" We have launched a manhunt to nab the accused, who is also wanted by several other police stations of the district," Bisi added.
